Have you seen great VAW journalism? Let us know!
Is responsible media reporting of violence against women important to you?
Do you know a great writer who is challenging public attitudes around violence against women?
Or have you seen something in the press recently that has made your blood boil?
Be sure to let us know! We need your help to drive up standards and reward those committed to furthering the cause of gender equality through their work.
We are asking members of the public to get involved with the campaign from now until the awards event in December. There are few easy ways that you can get involved:
- Submit your own or others’ writing for consideration — just be sure to first have a look at the terms and conditions here.
- Like the Write to End VAW Awards facebook page and follow our Twitter feed.
- Let us know if you come across great writing about Violence against Women. You can share it on the facebook page or tweet it to us using the hashtag #WritetoEndVAW.
- Don’t forget that we have a “Worst Article” category, so if you see something that makes your blood boil, let us know about that too.
Where the press have an influence over public opinion, in this internet age the public are increasingly able to influence the press. By getting involved with this award and submitting examples of good (or bad) writing, we can send a message to the Scottish media that we want to see a press which contributes to the elimination of violence, and challenges inequality, rather than perpetuating it.
